Full Contact Medieval Combat – The London Tournament
After two days of brutal competition It came down to Barney and Dan. The same finalists as 2016. Would Dan prevail once more or would Barney turn the tables on him. It was a close, hard contest and both men fought bravely and strong.
Dan “The Lion” Winter retains the title of London Champion. You can see how much it means to both men.
We can’t wait for next year. Will it be three in a row for “The Lion”?
Best of British in Barcelona!

We have so much going on this year at the St George’s Festival on Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. Vauxhall Trust and the Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens invite you to this lovely part of London for the Third annual London Tournament of Full Contact Medieval Combat. Competitors come to London as the last stop before the World Championships, which this year are being held in Barcelona a week after St George’s.
We have representatives from a number of countries where St George is celebrated. We have traditional dancing, wrestling, food and wine from Georgia, in association with the British Georgian Society. Hand made cork products from Portugal and a mystery entertainment from Bulgaria.
Everyone’s favourite Punch and Judy show will be back on the Gardens with Mr Punch delighting the crowds with his antics in this traditional artform that originated in Italy and came to London in the 1600s. Ha Ha hopscotch will be running races and traditional games for the kids and are always a lot of fun.

Medieval Folk band Princes in the Tower will be our wandering minstrels for the weekend. They also have a couple of stage shows which are always full of energy and fun.
In their own words: We’re here to make you happy, we’re here to make you jive, we’re here to make you party like it’s 1555

Our Medieval village will have lots of traders in hand made traditional medieval goods. The perfect souvenir of your day with us in Vauxhall. They will tell you all about medieval life and how their beautiful items are crafted. You might even get to see some handiwork, from a traditional craftsman too.
