We have so much going on this year at the St George’s Festival on Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.  _DSC5632-EditVauxhall Trust and the Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens invite you to this lovely part of London for the Third annual London Tournament of Full Contact Medieval Combat.  Competitors come to London as the last stop before the World Championships, which this year are being held in Barcelona a week after St George’s.

thWe have representatives from a number of countries where St George is celebrated.  We have traditional dancing, wrestling, food and wine from Georgia, in association with the British Georgian Society.  Hand made cork products from Portugal and a mystery entertainment from Bulgaria.

_DSC3219-EditEveryone’s favourite Punch and Judy show will be back on the Gardens with Mr Punch delighting the crowds with his antics in this traditional artform that originated in Italy and came to London in the 1600s. Ha Ha hopscotch will be running races and traditional games for the kids and are always a lot of fun.

Princes

Medieval Folk band Princes in the Tower will be our wandering minstrels for the weekend.  They also have a couple of stage shows which are always full of energy and fun.

In their own words: We’re here to make you happy, we’re here to make you jive, we’re here to make you party like it’s 1555

Princes in the Tower comprises Michael Tyack on Cittern, lute and vocals; William Summers on Crumhorns, Rauschpfeife and flute; and Antony Elvin on percussion and vocals.

This ‘Tudor power trio’ regularly brings a rowdy peak to many a London bash, festival and historical event. visit their website
